Astrology
Vedic astrology is the tradition practiced in India. This tradition uses the sidereal method of orienting the chart. This means that the signs are aligned to specific stars in the sky instead of to the position of the sun. This may result in planets occupying different signs than they would in a western chart. Western astrology depends largely on the seasons and the quality of time. Vedic astrology depends more on the actual relation between the individual and the stars in the sky.

The information required to calculate the birth chart is the date of birth, the time of day that you were born, and the location of birth. For the chart to be accurate, the time of birth must be as close as possible to the exact minute. The location can be the town or city that you were born in. Astrology can be examined by the birthdate alone if you do not know the exact time of day but may not reveal as much information as the accurate birth time.
